At the next City Council meeting on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, an ordinance for redistricting of City Council wards to reflect the 2020 census will be considered as part of the agenda. The current ward boundaries do not necessitate a change but result in a total deviation of 7.66%. The proposal to be considered includes one change. A two-block area bounded by East Clark Street, North University Street, East Cedar Street, and North Pine Street would move from the Central Ward to the Northeast Ward. All other ward boundaries would remain the same. Making this change would reduce the total community deviation to 5.27%. The optimal population per ward is 2,924 people.

The proposed population by ward would be:

Central Ward3,028
Northeast Ward2,912
Northwest Ward2,874
Southeast Ward2,881
